The 5th Higher Education European Networking Summit will take place in Craiova, Romania, on 17–18 September 2026, as part of the University of Craiova International Staff Week. Organised by garagErasmus, the Summit will bring together universities and international staff from across Europe to network, exchange best practices and explore new opportunities for cooperation.

Under the theme “The Union of Skills in Action: AI, Internationalization and the Future of European Higher Education,” the event will focus on AI, internationalisation, mobility, European collaboration and the future of Higher Education.

The Higher Education European Networking Summit, organised by the garagErasmus Foundation, gives Higher Education Institutions across Europe the opportunity to connect, exchange ideas and discuss the latest developments in Erasmus+ and the challenges faced by International Offices.

This year’s edition, “Erasmus+ beyond 2027: Secure Mobility for Future Talents,” will focus on the future of Erasmus+, secure and inclusive mobility, and stronger European cooperation. Participants will work together to address current challenges and shape practical, future-ready approaches for international education and student mobility across Europe in the years ahead.

The Summit offers Higher Education Institutions across Europe the opportunity to build strong and lasting relationships within the pan-European network of the garagErasmus Foundation. It supports universities in creating new partnerships, strengthening cooperation and exploring opportunities for future European initiatives.

Through the Foundation’s experience in EU project development, project management and communication, participating institutions can connect with potential partners, exchange ideas and develop new collaborations for the implementation of European projects, helping to strengthen international cooperation and long-term academic partnerships across Europe.

The Summit gives Higher Education Institutions across Europe the opportunity to build lasting relationships and develop new partnerships within the pan-European network of the garagErasmus Foundation. It also supports institutions interested in creating and implementing EU projects, benefiting from the Foundation’s expertise in project management, communication and European cooperation.

The event will also focus on the growing importance of microcredentials, bringing together universities, organisations and policy makers to exchange best practices, share practical experiences and discuss recommendations for their successful implementation in the context of the European Year of Skills.

The Summit will bring together high-level speakers, Erasmus+ experts and Higher Education representatives to exchange knowledge and discuss key developments in European mobility and international education.

A central focus of the event will be creating new relationships, synergies and partnerships among universities and Higher Education Institutions. Participants will have an open space to share ideas, discuss challenges and identify opportunities for future cooperation, while also exchanging feedback on the Erasmus+ Programme, mobility tools and policy developments.
