After receiving the great news of the approval of our new innovation proposal a few months ago, on November 4 and 5 the first international meeting of the DIGI-Sporting project was held in Toledo, Spain.
The event took place between the spectacular Campus de San Pedro Mártir, located in the historical centre of the city, and the Campus de Fábrica de Armas, which houses the headquarters of the IGOID Group and the Faculty of Sciences of the Sport of the Universidad de Castilla La Mancha (UCLM).
The kick-off meeting consolidated the project executive committee and distributed tasks among the participants, starting with the first group working session. The meeting was inaugurated by UCLM Vice Chancellor for Internationalization and Permanent Training, Fátima Guadamillas Gómez.
This project, funded through the Erasmus + KA203 – Strategic Partnerships for Higher Education Call 2019, aims to develop a guide of good practices for the effective incorporation of technology in sport clubs and academies, as well as the creation of a competitive profile of Sports Technologist and a postgraduate training package.
This project meets the need to harmonize and standardize a postgraduate specialization for graduates in Physical Activity Sciences, Sports and Physical Education in Europe, focused on the application of technology to training and teaching activities in the sports sector. A new step towards digital transformation through sports science.
Digitalisation has happened very fast in the world of sports and today there are many innovative systems and technological alternatives to improve the work of sports technicians and professionals at all levels. However, the way in which these technologies are applied and used is very varied and erratic, in many cases there is a lack of productivity and efficiency due to poor choice or misuse. In addition, the figure of the professional who must use the technology and treat the information is also very varied, there is no consensus on the best professional profile.
Therefore, this project aims to develop a professional profile of Sports Sciences specialisation in the application of new technologies to different sports fields, maintaining the functions of other professionals and facilitating their participation in multidisciplinary teams. For this purpose, the training that is currently being developed for undergraduate studies will be analysed and a specialized postgraduate model will be developed to complete and formalize it. Moreover, a pilot test will be developed at European level and, finally, a self-assessment tool for clubs, centres sports and academies will be developed in order to assess the degree of implementation and technological development.
The consortium for this project is made up of nine organisations that will ensure the quality of the project in all its phases, assuming roles in the analysis of the environment, field work, training, technological development or dissemination of the activities.
