What skills are needed to help NEETs enter the labour market? This question guided the research phase of the Brand Me project, which aims to facilitate access to relevant and quality learning resources and increase employment opportunities for young people. The project partners – Associação VR de Marketing (Portugal), Innovation Education Lab (Romania), Efektas Group (Lithuania), garagErasmus Foundation (Italy), VAEV (Austria) and INDEPCIE (Spain) – joined forces to train youth workers and NEETs (Not in Employment, Education or Training) in the field of personal branding through materials, resources and educational tools created on the basis of the needs identified by the project.

The BAM report successfully achieved all its objectives as it effectively provided youth stakeholders with real-time and objective insights into NEETs in terms of aspects such as career guidance and development, formal education and personal branding concepts. It also provided information on the potential needs of the target group in terms of employment, branding, professionalism, career development and the labour market.

This was achieved by meeting theobjectives of this first project deliverable: An appropriate and relevant survey form was designed for the study. More than 240 responses were collected in a comprehensive report. The 12 most relevant training topics for the target group were defined: 1. Collaboration and relationship management, 2. Analytical thinking, 3. Communication and writing skills, 4. Networking, 5. Brand management and positioning, 6. Competitive analysis, 7. Browsing, searching and filtering data, information and digital content, 8. Managing data, information and digital content, 9. Evaluating data, information and digital content, 10. Creativity, 11. Vision, 12. Motivation and Perseverance.

Now that they have been identified, the Brand Me project is committed to designing and implementing relevant information, resources and tools to train NEETs, young workers, educators, mentors, social workers and youth organisations in such approaches, thus contributing to reducing NEET rates in the labour market and supporting the European Union’s 2030 targets.
