Ec(h)o-Cultures
Echoing Cultural Sustainability
Overview on the project
In a globalized world, engaging local communities in the fight against climate change should no longer be considered a difficult task. However, research has shown that involving citizens in eco-sustainable initiatives in diverse urban environments poses significant challenges for project managers. Schools and community organizations also struggle to fully comprehend and respond to the multifaceted impacts of climate change, necessitating effective organizational and managerial strategies. The EC(h)O-CULTURES (ECHOCULT) project, which stands for Echoing Cultural Sustainability, aims to address these issues by promoting eco-sustainable cultures through grassroots engagement in Italy, Spain, and Belgium.
What are ECHOCULT objectives?
The project objectives are tailored to different target audiences, each with specific goals.
First Level: Citizens (Children, Young Adults, and Adults)
- Raising Awareness: Educate and inform citizens about climate change.
- Training and Echo-Effect: Provide training to foster an echo-effect, encouraging community engagement.
- Bottom-Up Policy-Making: Gather opinions from citizens to influence policy-making.
Second Level: Policy Makers and Local Stakeholders
- Advocacy: Promote and support eco-friendly policies and practices.
- Bottom-Up Policy-Making: Implement a policy-making process that incorporates feedback from citizens.
- Delivering Results and Ensuring Impact: Achieve outcomes and ensure long-term follow-up and impact of the initiatives.
What are ECHOCULT results?
ECHOCULT aims to contribute to strengthening and enhancing the central role of citizens in addressing the 2030 Agenda, the objectives of the Green Deal, and general environmental priorities. The project’s ultimate goal is to increase awareness and understanding of the need for soft and green skills.
These objectives will be achieved through various actions tailored to different target audiences.
Children and young adults:
EC(h)O-summer camps focusing on sustainability, future labs, and workshops on related topics such as creating products through upcycling will be organized. Additionally, various sustainability-related events, including a clothes-swapping event, will be held.
Adults:
Workshops with vegan show-cooking, debates on climate change involving local stakeholders and policymakers, and evening aperitifs serving as opportunities to discuss eco-environmental themes will be organized.
Policymakers and local stakeholders:
An e-book will be created to gather policy suggestions and solutions directly from citizens across different EU countries.
